Max Verstappen heeft zondagmorgen grote indruk gemaakt tijdens de Grand Prix van Japan. De coureur van Red Bull Racing versloeg Lando Norris en Oscar Piastri vanaf pole position. Na afloop kreeg het duo van McLaren flinke concurrentie op sociale media.
Op het circuit van Suzuka begon Verstappen vanaf pole position. Bij de start wist hij beide McLaren's achter zich te houden, waardoor hij de koppositie behield. De Nederlander gooide de deur dicht en trok direct een klein gaatje. De viervoudig wereldkampioen wist dit gat te vergroten naar iets meer dan één seconde. Vervolgens reed hij consequent zijn eigen tempo. Echt spannend werd het daardoor nooit en Verstappen wist op knappe wijze als eerste over de streep te komen.
